The Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland Clinic Health System are committed to creating a healthy environment for our employees, patients and visitors. We want to lead by example. We want to be a model of good health and best wellness practices. To help achieve this, we will designate our facilities and grounds as smoke-free areas.
On July 4, 2005, Independence Day, The Cleveland Clinic and CCHS will officially become smoke-free. This is consistent with thousands of businesses, airlines and health care organizations that have become smoke-free in recent years.
To prepare patients and visitors for the implementation of our smoke-free policy, a number of efforts are under way to help people quit or reduce their tobacco use. Over the next several months, we will host monthly forums on smoking-related topics, offer monthly smoking cessation programs developed by Cleveland Clinic experts, and implement a new mentoring program for those who would like personal assistance in smoking cessation.
For more information about all of these efforts, please call 1-877-617-6653 or e-mail smashtheash@ccf.org. You can also visit us at our Smash The Ash Web site.
