Pre-Admission Testing

Where is Pre-Admission Testing Located?

North Olmsted Patient Testing Center
24700 Lorain Road, Suite 106
North Olmsted, Ohio 44070

To schedule your appointment, please call 216.476.7181.

Pre-Admission Testing department is open during the following times:

Monday through Thursday - 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday - 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday

Your appointment should be scheduled for a time no earlier than 30 days or later than three days before your scheduled procedure.

How long will I be there?

Expect to be with us for two to three hours (remember your PAT appointment replaces the overnight admission).

You may also have other appointments scheduled that are appropriate for your type of procedure such as physical therapy, a brace fitting, or special monitoring tests. Expect these to extend the amount of time you will spend here.

Who will I see?

Admitting will greet you and ask for basic information.

Assistants will escort you to the changing area and have you put on a gown and robe. They will also do your blood tests, urine test, EKG (electrocardiogram), and any necessary X-rays.

Pre-Admission Testing RNs and Nurse Practitioners will do a complete medical history and physical examination. They will also ask you questions regarding your health and will teach you about your upcoming hospital stay.

What other things should I know?

  • You may eat regular meals and take your regular medications on the day of your Pre-Admission Testing appointment unless you have been told otherwise.
  • You may be asked the same questions more than once because it is important that we double check information for your safety.
  • Remember, our healthcare team is here for you. We want to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable about your hospital stay. Feel free to write down any questions you have and ask them while you are here. If we cannot answer them, we will find someone who can.

What can I do to help my appointment go smoothly?

  • Know the name of the procedure/surgery for which you are scheduled.
  • Have a basic understanding of the procedure and an explanation of any risks involved.
  • Please bring a list of the medications, strengths, and dose that you take. We need all of the medications you take, including over-the-counter drugs.
  • Know your medical history. We need the most accurate information about you as possible. If you have trouble speaking or remembering, you may want to bring your spouse, adult child, or a close friend with you to help give this information.
  • Bring your insurance card(s) with you. As a suggestion, you may want to look over your insurance coverage before coming to the hospital. Call your insurance company if you have any questions.
  • Please drink some fluids before your appointment so that we may obtain a urine sample.

What questions should I ask?
  1. Where do I report on the day of my procedure?
  2. What time should I report?
  3. Do I need to take any of my prescribed medications the day of surgery?
  4. What will be done to make me comfortable?
  5. When can I have something to eat or drink?
  6. Will I have tubes? IV? Foley catheter?
