Campus Facility
Fairview Hospital was established on the West Side of Cleveland in 1892. The internal medicine residency program was approved in 1962. Fairview is a modern, state-of-the-art facility that provides a full range of health care including cancer and heart centers. Our conference center is equipped with computer controlled audio-video systems. Fairview Hospital has been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals on a consistent basis.
Affiliations
Fairview Hospital is a member of the world renowned Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS). Our medical school affiliation is with Case Western Reserve University.
Faculty and Staff
Medical residents are supervised by two associate program directors and 91 full and part-time faculty members. In addition, many of the community physicians donate time to train our residents. This effort is augmented by eight administrators and support staff.
Alumni
Our residency program was established in 1962 at Lutheran Hospital. The first graduates received their diplomas in 1965. Many of these physicians remain in the Cleveland area and are practicing at Fairview and other hospitals. Others pursued fellowships and returned to Cleveland to set-up practice or joined as hospitalists. You can find our graduates in every part of the United States.
Criteria for Admission into Residency

Applications are accepted through ERAS only. Deadline for ERAS applications is November 15, 2011.

An average score of 90 and above, on first attempt, on USMLE Step 1 and Step 2CK and first attempt passing on Step 2CS; then the entire application is reviewed.

Graduation year from medical school of 2003 and after.

U.S. clinical experience is not mandatory, but can be very helpful to your application.

ECFMG certification by Rank Day.

J1 Visas will be sponsored.

H-1B visas will be sponsored but are subject to USCIS regulations, laws and approvals. Only premium processing is accepted.
Our program must receive a candidate’s USMLE Step 3 pass result by Match Day, otherwise, that candidate must come on a J1 Visa.

CANDIDATES THAT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH OUR PROGRAM MUST START THEIR RESIDENCY TRAINING ON JULY 1, 2012. IF A CANDIDATE DOES NOT ARRIVE TO THE PROGRAM ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 2012, HIS/HER CONTRACT WILL BE TERMINATED ON THAT DAY, AND THE NRMP WILL BE NOTIFIED OF OUR ACTION.
