Cleveland Clinic Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry services have relocated to a new state-of-the-art unit at Fairview Hospital in a safe and secure community setting. This is a highly specialized behavioral treatment program for children and adolescents. Under the direction of Barry Simon, DO, medical director, our goal is to stabilize the children through counseling, therapy and intervention. Our services are designed to meet the special needs of children, teens and their families in times of adjustment or crisis. Inpatient care includes comprehensive psychiatric, medical, family and educational assessment and treatment; crisis stabilization and development of a comprehensive aftercare plan for the children. Children attend school with special education teachers and are provided care and counseling seven days a week.
Recently relocated from Cleveland Clinic main campus, the new unit features:
- 13 private rooms with individual bathrooms, a desk and shelving
- Secure, safe and calming environment with views of the valley
- Team treatment rooms for group sessions
- Kitchen where children can cook
- Lounge with flat-screen televisions for relaxing
- Recreational space, including a pool table and foosball table
- Laundry
Our highly trained team offers comprehensive pediatric medical treatment which includes:
- Cleveland Clinic psychiatric experts
- Occupational and recreational therapists to promote physical activities to manage stress and to help develop stress-relieving habits
- Social worker to coordinate follow-up and future planning with the patient and family
- Child Life programmer to provide structure and offer skill-based stress relief
- Special education teachers provide daily classes and will work with the patient’s school to maintain the curriculum
- Highly trained and specialized nurses
