Diabetes Education

The Diabetes Education programs at Fairview, Lakewood and Lutheran Hospitals hold the prestigious Education Recognition Certificate from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to recognize quality diabetes education. This certification ensures that programs meet the ADA’s National Standards for Diabetes.  Comprehensive diabetes education is available at all three hospitals.  You will learn all the practical things you need to know in managing your diabetes, including:

  • Testing your blood sugar.
  • Taking diabetes medication properly.
  • Selecting tasty well-balanced meals.
  • Participating in regular physical activity.
  • Caring for your feet.

In addition, once you’ve been through the program and begin your new care regimen, if you still find it difficult to keep your blood sugar in range or have any other problems, a diabetes educator will work with you to troubleshoot and help you resolve them.

Lakewood, Fairview and Lutheran Hospitals present special community education programs on diabetes. All three hospitals are recognized throughout Greater Cleveland for excellence in outpatient clinical diabetes services. For more information, please call (216) 476-4077.
